These safety devices are used in piping and other systems under pressure. The rupture disc is calibrated to burst at a pre-determined pressure; it may set off a signal and enables to compensate for pressure spikes that pose a risk to the system's integrity and to the personnel's safety. Conventional or reverse acting rupture discs are constructed from stainless steel, nickel, aluminium, and other materials, sizes from DN 6 to DN 400. They can be fitted to any type of connection and comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/CE when used as safety accessories.
